Purpose of the Association
For a large proportion of students in Aachen, there is no access to manufacturing machines and tools to put the theoretical knowledge acquired during their studies into practice. Furthermore, there were hardly any opportunities to use suitable tools and machines for their own projects and ideas, and thus to learn the proper and safe handling of such machines at the same time.
Studiwerkstatt Aachen was founded as a non-profit association with the aim of eliminating this situation and thus enriching the Aachen study location through an extraordinary project. However, it is not only aimed at students – anyone who enjoys construction and building is welcome with us!
Specifically, Studiwerkstatt Aachen provides the following:
- Provision of premises, tools and machines
- Offering workshops and training courses
- Providing a platform for exchange of experience
- Exhibition of demonstration objects to complement teaching
- Cooperation with other student-led initiatives
Organisation
Studiwerkstatt Aachen is organised as a non-profit association. It can be freely used by any association member during opening hours. During working hours, workshop supervision is always present, which is also responsible for any questions about tools and machines as well as ensuring safe working practices.
Smaller machines and tools can be used freely at any time without reservation. For larger machines and/or those with a certain level of hazard potential, prior instruction is mandatory.
